A Tribute to Link Wray
Saturday, March 4, 2017
The Seahorse Tavern
Early Show: 8-10pm (doors at 7:30pm)
Some of Nova Scotia’s biggest Link Wray fans, and most excellent guitarists come together to celebrate the music of one of the most influential guitarists of all time. Confirmed guitarists for the show are Davey Lee Goode (The Shakedown Combo), Brad Conrad (The Mellotones), Willie Stratton (Beach Bait), and the evening’s hosts, Urban Surf Kings. More guests tba.
LINK WRAY. Father of the Power Chord. Creator of Distortion.
LINK WRAY and the Ray Men’s groundbreaking song RUMBLE was banned from radio airplay for fear it would incite teenage gang violence. A remarkable feat for a song with no words.
LINK WRAY was the first Native American rock star with RUMBLE selling over a million copies in 1958.
LINK WRAY is in the top 50 of the 100 GREATEST GUITARISTS selected by Rolling Stone magazine.
LINK WRAY has influenced many great musicians including Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend, Neil Young, Iggy Pop, Stevie Salas, Deke Dickerson, Rudi Protrudi, Poison Ivy, Eddie Angel, and so many more.
Some say without Link Wray there would be no Rock & Roll

Hey fellow surf fans. As many of you know North Sea Surf Radio has been on emergency stream broadcast for the last 3 months due to equipment failures. You can help one of the greatest, commercial-free, radio stations get back on its feet, and even get some unreleased tracks from one of the best surf bands ever, the Treble Spankers. Any amount helps!
